WCC

The WCC Image Gallery can be found at http://wcc.smugmug.com.

The Rules:

· You must be an active member of the WCC to compete.

· Guidelines for the competition are similar to those for Enlargements.

· There are no classes of competition (AA, A, B, etc.). If we regularly receive too many entries, we will break the category up into two groups, the way slides are handled.

· Digital images can be color or black and white, and there will not be separate scoring for each.

· You may submit up to 3 images total. Only the first three images you submit will be permitted!

· The image must originate from a digital camera or from a slides or negative that has been scanned.

· Your images must be in JPEG format.

· The filename should end with either .jpg or .jpeg.

· You do NOT need to resize your images before submission.

· Your image will automatically be adjusted to fit the projector’s resolution.

· We recommend submitting your image at full-size whenever possible.

· If you’d like to resize your own digital images, read the Notes section at the bottom of this page for the info you need.

· You can make minor adjustments to your image, however, all images should materially resemble the original image that you recorded.

· Normal digital adjustments such as cropping, brightness, color, and sharpness are allowed.

· Any major alterations to the digital image are not allowed, such as combining multiple images.

· Minor “cloning” is allowed, such as removing a power line from a digital image, or perhaps adding a small bird to a sunset.

· Future competitions may include a separate category for highly manipulated images.

· Digital image submissions MUST BE SUBMITTED NO LATER THAN ONE WEEK PRIOR TO COMPETITION. NO EXCEPTIONS!

· For example, in October, WCC meets on October 11th, so you would have to submit your digital images on or by October 4th.

· You can not upload digital images for competition until the Saturday AFTER our previous WCC meeting.

· For example, in October, WCC meets on October 11th, so you could begin submitting your digital images for November’s contest on the following Saturday, in this case October 14th.

· If you need assistance with submitting your images, please email wallingfordcc@gmail.com.

How to submit images in the Wallingford Camera Club digital image competition:

· You can submit your images via email.

· Submit one image per email.

· Address your email to wallingfordcc@gmail.com.

· In the body of the message, put your full name and the title for the image.

· Be sure to indicate in your email if you would like a critique of your digital image.

· If you’re comfortable doing so, please rename your image file to reflect your caption.

· Attach your image to the email.

· Note that many email providers do not allow attachments larger than 5MB total.

· Click Send!

Some Notes:

· If there’s a desire for it, I may develop a web page that you can use to submit your images as well. Please let me know if this interests you.

· We will continue to explore ways to make this process easier. As an example, one area camera club has a small program that members install on their computer; they select the images they want to submit and the program does the rest.

· The laptop and digital projector we will be using has a resolution of 1280 x 1024. Software on the laptop will resize your digital image to fill the screen. We recommend you make your images at least 1280x1024. If you want to resize your own digital images, you will want to make your image either 1280 pixels wide, or 1024 pixels high, as long as the other dimension does not exceed the limit

· This is our first year offering a digital competition, and we’re likely to have some growing pains. We may need to make adjustments to the rules or process. We will email all club members if this occurs so everyone is aware.

· Your digital images will be placed into an online gallery each month at our new photo gallery web site, located at http://wcc.smugmug.com. The image sizes will be kept small to help protect your images. Check it out!!

· Each WCC member is also entitled to a FREE personal online gallery at the new photo gallery web site. Please email us if you’d like to have your own gallery to display your digital images, compliments of the Wallingford Camera Club!

NOTE: You can submit your digital images for the NEXT competition anytime up to one week before the competition. January deadline is the January 2nd.
